Leadership Announcement Comes on Eve of their One-Year Expansion Anniversary

FRESNO, CALIFORNIA…February 21, 2019…The Board of Directors of The Vineyards California Armenian Home (The Vineyards) is pleased to announce the appointment of Francis X. Rodgers, the first Chief Executive Officer of the highly regarded continuing-care retirement community. Rodgers can be reached directly at (559) 251-8414.

Rodgers brings over 35 years of experience in long-term care, assisted living and continuity care retirement communitiesto The Vineyards. As Chief Executive Officer he will oversee the management of all levels of care at the senior lifestyle community offering continuing-care for seniors over the age of 60.

The Vineyards offers 12 resort-style independent living villas, 60 independent living apartments, 50 assisted living apartments and 36 dedicated memory care apartments with private pay, month-to-month rents. Additionally, there are 30 short and long-term 24-hour skilled nursing residences.

Free community screening reveals how personalized music provides comfort

The public is invited to a free screening of Alive Inside, a documentary that explores the transformative impact of music on people living with a diagnosis of dementia or other cognitive disorders. The award-winning documentary follows the journey of social worker Dan Cohen, creator of the national MUSIC & MEMORY® program, which helps non-verbal dementia patients re-ignite positive memories as they listen to familiar songs from their past. Two hours of BRN and NHAP continuing education credits are available for attending this screening.

TIME: Doors and vendor tables open at 3:00 PM/Film begins at 4:00 PM

The screening is sponsored by the California Association of Health Facilities (CAHF) with support from Music & Memory, Valley Caregiver Resource Center, and The Vineyards California Armenian Home. Created in 2008, the MUSIC & MEMORY® program provides personalized music to people with dementia in thousands of long-term care facilities in the U.S. and Canada. In California, a $1.4 million state grant administered by CAHF, is delivering the MUSIC & MEMORY® program to 300 skilled nursing homes, providing music to more than 4,000 elderly patients.

MUSIC & MEMORY® support groups are encouraging community involvement to increase the presence of music in long-term care settings. Suggestions include conducting an iPod drive, holding a concert, collecting used CDs, raising money for iTunes gift cards and seeking support from local artists, choral clubs, and music programs at local schools.

Valley Caregiver Resource Center is a non-profit agency that assists seniors and caregivers. They offer a comprehensive array of services designed to assist elders and their families master the challenges that accompany the aging process.

The Vineyards is the expansion of the California Armenian Home, a not-for-profit corporation established in 1952 on 40-acres of land in Fresno, California’s southeast countryside.
